Prime Minister and party chairman KP Sharma Oli, who was severely criticized at the CPN (Maoist) standing committee meeting, held consultations with some ministers and leaders. I took advice and suggestions from them. Leaders attending the consultation meeting urged Prime Minister Oli to end the blame game and proxy war.
At the PM’s residence on Wednesday morning, Oli called some ministers and party standing committee members to discuss the controversy in the standing committee. Minister for Tourism Yogesh Bhattarai said that the leaders who participated in the discussion suggested to take initiative to end the blame game and proxy war in the party. He said, “We are all suggesting that the blame game and proxy war should be ended now that the blame game is going on within the party.” Looking at the developments, it seems that an extreme crisis has arisen in the top leadership of the party, especially in the context of trust. So there had to be a good cordial relationship between the two presidents. The party secretariat should have a good relationship. There should be a relationship between the standing committees. We have said that you, as the party president and the prime minister, should take more initiative to develop a heartfelt sentiment in the entire Central Committee and the party ranks. ‘
He said that even though the meeting of the standing committee was adjourned for a few days, it was suggested to come up with a common view after discussing it in the secretariat meeting. He said that the leaders who had conquered death in different eras could not solve the problem and if they were to move towards division, they would be chased by history and it was suggested to strengthen the consensus and unity. Bhattarai said, “Leaders who have conquered so many deaths cannot solve today’s small problems and if we go towards division, then there is a serious question over your ability.” You are not only questioned by the cadres but also by the people. History raises questions and history continues to haunt you even after your death and even after your life. This step will not be tolerated by the CPN (Maoist) under any circumstances. You have to be careful, you have to communicate, you have to discuss, you have to come up with a solution. If you need our help, call us. ‘
Minister Bhattarai said that he was once asked to pay attention to find a solution by reading his own history. “Once upon a time, leaders had to read their history,” he said. We have to understand ourselves, how we came from what foundation, how we came to rule in Singha Durbar, how we became the party president, how we became a senior leader.
He said that as per the leaders presented at yesterday’s meeting, it was clear that the allegations were being made among the senior leaders. He said that the party workers were shocked as it made the party sensitive. He said, “Apart from the agenda, some burning issues were discussed in yesterday’s meeting.” During that discussion, allegations were made between the senior leaders of the party, between the two chairpersons of the party, between the senior leaders and the friends of the other standing committee, which made the meeting very sensitive and shocked the Nepali people. In this situation, how to move the party forward and looking at the scene of yesterday’s meeting, it is easy to understand that the CPN (Maoist) is in a very internal crisis. ‘
Minister Bhattarai said that the party should be able to solve the problem itself. He said that the party should be reunited on a new basis by resolving the issues that have arisen. He said that a very harmonious and close relationship had to be established between the party and the government. He said that the government should support the party and suggested that the party should take ownership of the government.
He said that it was suggested to discuss in the secretariat meeting and come up with a solution. He said that the senior leaders had suggested not to have a hot mind but to hold ice on everyone’s head.
Minister Bhattarai said that all the citizens have the freedom to register their party in the Election Commission but he was not convinced that it would maintain the weightage and gravity of the level of discussion being held in the meeting today.
